Your Life, Take Care series offered at Atria Covell Gardens

Woodland, CA, March 14, 2012 - Woodland Healthcare and Atria Covell Gardens in Davis will present “Your Life, Take Care,” a program designed to assist caregivers and people living with long-term health conditions, such as diabetes, arthritis, asthma, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, depression, obesity and others.

“As part of our continuous effort to pursue the highest quality for our residents, Atria Covell Gardens is excited to partner with Woodland Healthcare to offer this unique program to the Davis community,” said Evelyn Mendez, executive director at Atria Covell Gardens. “This program will educate and empower our residents, as well as the general public, suffering from a chronic condition by giving them the tools they need to manage their diseases more effectively.

The six-week series of classes will focus on helping patients take care of themselves with techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; exercising for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance; medical management; nutritional information; and approaches for improving communication with family, friends and health care professionals.

“The classes are highly participative where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives,” said Heidi Mazeres, RN, CDSMPS Master Trainer and manager of education at Woodland Healthcare.

The six-week series of classes will be held in the conference room at Atria Covell Gardens on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning April 6th. Atria Covell Gardens is located at 1111 Alvarado Avenue in Davis. For more information or to register for the class, please call (530) 756-0700 and ask for Kathy Green.
