Woodland Healthcare Pediatrics Offers Parent Support Classes to Address Problems with Kids Class
Topics Include Anger Management, Time Management and Learning Disabilities

Woodland, CA, March 22, 2011 – Parents who may be struggling with their children could find help in a series of classes offered by Woodland Healthcare Pediatrics. The Parent Support Series, which begins April 11, covers topics ranging from academic performance to anger management and conflict resolution skills to when to get help for learning disabilities.

Roseanne Testerman, MFT, is the facilitator for Woodland Healthcare’s Parent Support Series. “Sometimes parents feel out of control and may need some advice as they struggle to help their children,” she says. “We focus on helping parents solve their children’s problems positively to improve the health of the family.”

The classes are held once a month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Woodland Medical Office Building (Education Classrooms), located at 632 W. Gibson Road, Woodland.

The topics and dates are as follows:

April 11
Anger management and conflict resolution skills
Problems with sibling rivalry? Too many angry outbursts at home? Ever struggle with your child about who’s in charge? Come and find out what will help you and your child. Bullying and peer problems are also addressed.

May 9
Improving academic performance and increasing school success
What you can do at home to help your child succeed at school. How to work with the school staff when your child needs extra help. Suggestions for dealing with homework, 504 plans and IEPs.

June 13
Organizational skills, daily routines, and time management
Teach your child how to be organized. Get help establishing routines so your child’s day goes smoothly. Suggestions for how to structure your home environment to make everyone happier.

July 11 (Additional session)
Anger management and conflict resolution skills
Problems with sibling rivalry? Too many angry outbursts at home? Ever struggle with your child about who’s in charge? Come and find out what will help you and your child. Bullying and peer problems are also addressed.

August 8
Setting limits and consequences
Would you like to have your child cooperate more? Tired of telling them the same thing over and over? This class will focus on how to set limits and practice ways of following through with reasonable consequences. Why do natural and logical consequences work better? We’ll discuss this and also ways parents can negotiate and work together if they disagree on how to handle discipline.
