Choosing a Doctor
Excellent communication between you and your doctor from the start is very important and finding a provider who will listen to your wants and needs is really essential. Woodland Healthcare offers a full range of skilled physicians and certified nurse midwives from which to choose. So you’re sure to find one you can trust and feel comfortable talking to about your birthing options and pain management choices. It’s your birth, and our commitment.
OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives & Nurse Practitioners
Our team of OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives and Nurse Practitioners bring you an unmatched professionalism and compassionate care. At Woodland healthcare, our philosophy includes flexible birthing options. With physicians and midwives working side by side, it’s all about what’s best for you and your baby.
OB/GYNs are physicians who specialize in providing full scope medical care, specifically for women. They manage low and high risk pregnancies. In addition, OB/GYNs are also surgeons who can perform vacuum and cesarean deliveries, if necessary.
Certified Nurse Midwives are registered nurses who have completed additional graduate training and passed a national certification examination. CNMs provide holistic and family-centered approach to maternity care. They focus on low risk normal pregnancies and work with doctors to manage any complications that may arise. At Woodland Healthcare we are proud to offer 24/7 midwifery care at our Family Birth Center.
Pediatricians
It is best to choose a pediatrician several months before your baby is due. It may be helpful to have your obstetrician or midwife assist you with the choice of a pediatrician, and ensure your chosen pediatrician is on your pre-natal record prior to pre-registration. After the birth, during your stay, your pediatrician will you and your baby each day.
Nursing Staff
Nursing experience plays a major role in the Family Birth Center. Our nurses see each woman as an individual and tailor her care to her needs and birth plan she has chosen.
We know, for example, that having a second baby is different from, but no less important than, having your first baby. We know when a few extra words of encouragement can help and when you want to be left alone. And we know that family wishes should come first throughout this important day in the life of you and your baby.
Anesthesiologists
Anesthesia coverage is available 24 hours every day.
Certified Lactation Consultants
Our goal at Woodland Healthcare is to encourage every mother to breastfeed. With our staff of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), Woodland Healthcare offers prenatal breastfeeding classes and appointments, breastfeeding information in your prenatal visits with your health care provider, breastfeeding support during your hospital stay after your baby’s birth, and breastfeeding appointments and care in our pediatrics clinic after you leave the hospital with your newborn.
