Women at Heart

At Woodland Healthcare, your heart is in good hands.

As women, it seems we put everyone else first, but when it comes to our health and heart disease, that needs to change. Why? Because Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women over the age of 25, causing 500,000 deaths annually.

Luckily, with lifestyle changes that are big on health and fun, there’s a lot we can do to fight back. To help in that endeavor, Woodland Healthcare, together with the City of Woodland, is presenting a FREE Women at Heart event to promote women’s heart health on Thursday, February 16, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St., Woodland.

Celebrate National Heart Month and attend Woodland Healthcare’s FREE educational event, Women At Heart, focusing on keeping you and your heart strong and healthy for years to come. Join us for an evening of delicious heart –healthy treats, pampering activities and health education seminars presented by Woodland Healthcare medical experts. Invite a female family member or friend to join you for this special event.

The event will feature health education seminars on the following topics:

  • Sticks And Stones Can’t Break These Bones: Learn more about our bodies as women, and the importance of osteoporosis prevention and care as we age. Join Woodland Healthcare’s Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioners Clariza Aguillon-Doms, FNP and Jaime Greene, FNP, for this important discussion.
  • Below The Belt: Join Woodland Healthcare’s Natasha Bir, MD and Cathy Jang, MD, to discuss your most common health questions for everything “below the belt”, and learn about the importance of colonoscopies for women.
  • Iron Women: Many super women lack this essential mineral. Join Woodland Healthcare’s Lisa Law, MD, and discover how iron can optimize your body and your health.
  • Don’t Break My Heart: Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women and potentially one of the most preventable conditions. Yet most women don’t know their own risk. Join Woodland Healthcare Cardiologist, Kathy Glatter, MD, for a discussion on heart disease in women, and learning how your lifestyle can affect your overall risk.

The health education presentations will occur in two sessions, 6 – 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 – 7:15 p.m. Participants can choose two health topics, one during each session. Each presentation will be given twice in the same meeting room.
