Scattered throughout Yolo County are dozens of parks, greenbelts, indoor and outdoor sport facilities for all ages to enjoy. The Davis and Woodland Parks and Recreation Departments both offer programs for sports of all kinds, from traditional soccer and baseball, to inline hockey and frisbee golf.

Nearby Sacramento is a great location for professional sports fans of all types. For basketball fans, the city offers the excitement of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, as well as the family-friendly WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs. Baseball fans can enjoy spring and summer evenings near the river at Raley Field, home to the Sacramento River Cats, Triple A affiliate of MLB’s nearby Oakland Athletics. And the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giant’s home fields are just a short drive away in the Bay Area.

Yolo County is rich in performing arts and entertainment. Woodland’s historic Opera House, originally built in the late 1800s, was renovated in the 1980s and today offers public tours and live theatre performances. Davis’ Mondavi Center brings world renowned dancers, musicians and actors to the stage, while the University of California, Davis, features local artists in a variety of performances and venues.

Another fun, unexpected, entertainment opportunity is the Sacramento River Train. Traveling through Yolo County, passengers are treated to unique experiences ranging from beautiful sunset dinner rides to the suspenseful Murder Mystery Train.

For kids, daily fun can be found at the Woodland Youth Center where there are activities and after-school programs designed just for them.
